Countries Beginning with F

There are two countries in the world whose names start with the letter “F.”

1. Finland

Finland is a parliamentary republic in Northern Europe and has been a member of the European Union since 1995. With 5.4 million residents in an area only slightly smaller than Germany, Finland is one of the most sparsely populated countries in Europe. The collapse of the Soviet Union plunged Finland, whose economy was largely based on trade with the East, into a severe economic crisis in the early 1990s. Joining the European Community in 1995 contributed to economic stabilization. Today Finland is one of the wealthy countries within the European Union.
